Stressed out about applying for a mortgage? You don't have to be. I have close relationships with a lot of mortgage lenders in the Addison area, and they've helped me realize some things that can make the process of applying for a loan a breeze.

1 – Create a list of questions about your loan program

Be sure to have a list of questions with you if you find that you do not perfectly grasp the ins and outs of the different programs. It is a challenge understanding the distinctions between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my lender contacts will assist you with understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both programs.

2 – Decide when to lock

By locking in an interest rate, the lender is committing to the interest rates for the loan – commonly at the time the loan application is sent in. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the loan application day and the issuing of closing documents. 3 – Determine if you want to pay additional points to lower your rate

When you opt to pay additional points to lower the rate of your loan, you'll do so by paying for them in cash at closing. Every point is 1 percent of the loan. If you're unsure if buying points is right for you, click here to use our points calculator.
